I dislike the double standard, as with many things, regardless of whether I like the speech or not. Even as a non-straight person (not that that should matter or make my opinion more or less valid), I am suck and tired of almost every same-sex friendship, rivalry, partnership,hero-villian-duo, etc being sexualized, especially for male characters. It is harming no-one as it is fiction, not real people. Plenty of people, especially in certain political circles, do not support or outright mock straight pairings.
If he does not support gay pairings (I feel like that is a vicious rumor due to his religion) that is his choice. I know he tends to be a little anti-cute, but I find it amusing more than anything else. People can like and dislike what they like but others may criticize that, especially the negative aspects of the fandom. I don't see why being anti-furry is such a bad thing. Rarity being that makes no sense, even with her early character being understandably divisive. I just wish Spike had been in the episode to see his fan-club, and that Starlight, as what happened in the fandom, was the debated pony.
I like that the Mane Six spread the lessons of friendship (especially as Ponyville is almost always the only witness to such events). I like that the normal and or background folk gained knowledge of, well, the main plot. I do think "Fame and Misfortune" was a bit too negative (basically implying that you cannot criticize at all), but unlike most, and even despite what Larson said, I still like it overall. Well, I'm glad we came to some agreement, then. I don't care for "Secrets and Pies" either, though.

I like that, not only do the Mane Six achieve their life goals during the series rather than at the end (as usually happens), we see that they are not all just sunshine and rainbows.
Achieving one's goal is not the end of one's trials and victories. Plus, I like that joining the Wonderbolts was not this perfect, all-pleasant thing. I'm against hazing in other places, but in something like the military it is needed to separate the wheat from the chaff. This video explains it better than I can, as it's from an actual marine: If you cannot take something as minor as a insulting nickname, how will you survive in a combat situation with actual danger and damage? In the military, marines, etc (the incompetence of Spitfire and her crew non-withstanding), hazing is part and parcel. The people that dislike "Newbie Dash" for that reason really don't seen to understand what the point in it is and what it is referring too.
